My name is Jeannie Pierce Waychoff. This is the story behind the creation of Grandma’s Store….and by the way, I am the Grandma of Grandma’s Store!! In February, 2020, my ninth grandchild was born. Leonard “Cowboy” Simmons declared he was going to build that grandson a wagon . . . and build a wagon, he did!
Of course, Levi was only one month old, but Cowboy proceeded to build an approximate 4’x5’x9’ covered wagon! The wagon was big enough to hold not only Levi, but his mommy, and three of my other small grandchildren when they all came to visit Grandma Jeannie in the summer of 2020!
What fun they had as PapPap Lennie used a lawn tractor to pull them around my two acre+ yard! Not only were my grandkids loving this unique travel mode, but my adult children were impressed with the wagons as well . . . yes, indeed, by the time they all came home in the summer, Lennie had built a second wagon – a buckboard style wagon in addition to the covered canopy wagon! Both wagons were hitched together, just like a wagon train, and the family was over the moon.
Because my adult children fell in love in the wagons, or perhaps more accurately, because they were reminded of the importance of individual creativity and the beauty of genuine handmade, handcrafted products, they suggested we repurpose THE LIT’L STORE into GRANDMA’S STORE and build these novel, wooden, vintage style products, handmade and handcrafted with love and made in the USA.
Grandma’s Store will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am- 4pm beginning January 9, 2024…or by appointment by calling 724-710-6550.

An iconic community location, the current Grandma’s Store location was once filled with the aroma of bacon and homemade soups, open 24 hours, and serviced community members and our miners on varying shifts. Formerly The Lit’l Store, community members were familiar with the iconic flattop grill, coolers and metal shelving, but most important was the feeling the Lit’l store offered its customers – one of welcoming warmth and love. Although the physical aspect of the Lit’l store has changed in a number of ways, that feeling of welcoming warmth remains. The reason, owner and operator Jeannie Pierce Waychoff creates the feeling . . . perhaps without even knowing it.
Ready for a “step back in time,” Jeannie is excited to show those familiar with the store the repurposed store complete with the refinished, original pine floor and the rough cut poplar lumber walls and beams.
The store now displays various sizes of handcrafted vintage covered wagons, buckboard wagons and unique wooden gift items as well. Grandma’s Store promotes the God-given talents of folks who MAKE products . . . homemade and handcrafted items. What a novel idea, right? Just in time for the Christmas season, all the items being offered would make heartfelt, high-quality gifts this Christmas Season!!
Grandma’s Store (the former Lit’l Store, 77 Market and Butler’s Market) is located at 1004 Jefferson Rd, Waynesburg, PA. We are on Rt. 188 east of Waynesburg, PA traveling towards Jefferson, PA and situated across from the entrance to the Greene County Memorial Park. Come, see and enjoy!! God Bless You!!
